Retro G1 Toy Reviews

In 2023 Hasbro teamed up with Wal-Mart to launch a line of exclusives which were listed under the header of "Transformers Retro" or "Retro G1".  This line name never appeared on the packaging, but it was used extensively in product descriptions.  This line began with reissues of G1 tooling but eventually changed to redecos and retools of Generations figures as Retro G1 versions of characters like Bumblebee and Seaspray.

Hot on the heels of the reveal of Retro G1-Inspired Seaspray, Walmart has posted a listing for another Retro G1-Inspired figure: Brawn!  Taking inspiration from the G1 themed packaging, this figure is a redeco and retool of Studio Series 86 Brawn featuring a toy-based head sculpt!  No "claw hands" unfortunately but it still makes for a very neat take on the classic character.  Th

This past week Supreme clothing stores released an exclusive redeco of the "Retro G1" Optimus Prime!  This figure quickly sold out but I was lucky enough to snag one.  Check out my review and gallery of this unique figure.

Starting in 2023, Walmart and Hasbro's Vintage G1 line was changed into the Transformers Retro or Retro G1 line.  The initial figures in the line focused on G1 cartoon decos on G1 toy reissues.  Later, modern toys would be released in more toy accurate decos with G1 styled packaging.  Several "40th Anniversary" figures also fell into this category.
